Jefferson, NE (September 28, 2020) – An automobile accident reported on Thursday evening in the Omaha area left several victims seriously injured. According to reports, on September 24, a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling west on State Street. At the same time, a 2005 Dodge Neon was traveling east along the same road.
As the vehicles passed through the intersection with North 147th Street, they collided head-on. Crews arrived at the scene of the accident to find several victims being pulled from their vehicles by bystanders. Victims were found on the sidewalk near the road where the accident took place.
The drivers of both vehicles, a 16-year-old female and 20-year-old Rachael Ackley, were both critically injured in the accident. Both victims were transported to CHI Health Bergan Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Four other passengers were transported to Nebraska Medicine for treatment. A fifth passenger was transported to Children’s Hospital for further assistance. All five passengers were between the ages of 14 and 16.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation with the police in Omaha.
